Once more our sale comprises many interesting and diverse elements to suit all pockets. These include a superb collection of early English porcelain from factories such as Worcester and Caughley, decorated in typical chinoiserie style. Of particular interest is a rare pattern Worcester tea bowl and saucer, ‘The Path and River Island’ design is particularly sought after.
The picture section includes an early 19th century naïve depiction of a mail coach with the city of Cambridge in the distance, the image showing Regency ladies standing as the bustling coach passes by. We are thrilled to have been chosen by a local vendor to offer a colourful and striking painting by Samuel John Lamorna Birch and some charming St Ives harbour scenes, including one by Arthur Beaumont. Also included in the sale are three vibrant local scenes by Simeon Stafford, featuring Newlyn, St Ives and Marazion.
The furniture section is well represented with a wide range of furniture styles, ranging from Georgian through to contemporary mid century. Of particular interest is a fine linen fold panelled coffer from the mid 17th century and at the other extreme a stylish mid 20th century Gordon Russell sideboard.
Our jewellery highlights include a collection of gold ducats and silver thaler coins and a steel cased military chronograph watch by Lemonia. The coin section also features Roman and early English examples.
A local vendor who consigned bronzes to our last sale was so pleased with the sale results that we have been favoured with another tranche of his collection, these include 18th and 19th century Grand Tour examples.
We’re now accepting entries for our upcoming Fine Art & Antique Sales.
